MISSION INN RIVERSIDE CASUAL DINING RESTAURANT REVIEW - Table To Stage

TOURISTING AT BREAKFAST

“Let’s find a nice place for breakfast in Riverside. Oh, I know…how about MISSION INN?” Susie is excited because we’ve often talked about visiting this landmark property. Of course, I buy into the plan and here we go.

On arrival we agree that the historical main drag in Riverside is beautifully appointed (and nearby the Fox Riverside Theatre as well). We decide to choose the valet parking arrangement in order to limit the walking requirement for today’s venture into history. (We blink at the $11 fee for the service, but expect that it may be waived since we will be eating in the restaurant.)

Time to skip ahead. Negativity at hostess station. Bland Table Presentation (holiday?).Boring menu options. Long wait for initial service. Ill-informed server. Expensive (this we knew in advance). Valet fee not waived.

As for that menu, these diners expect an array of chef specialties in a dining situation at an historical property, especially on a holiday weekend. Somehow we are anxious for more than eggs & breakfast meat, omelets and Eggs Benedict. Eggsactly!!! Not too special, are they?

Our expectations for this restaurant apparently are out of whack with reality. No matter… it may be some time until we return.
